Marlow Sports Club formed as a charity in December 2010 to make the change from a ‘member club’ to the status of a ‘community facility’, run for the benefit of the whole community of Marlow. In March 2011 the Club was able to take the first steps towards an exciting new era by securing ownership of the land at Pound Lane. By taking this risk, the Club secured the green space for sport and recreation for future generations. At the same time, with the help of a grant from England Hockey and the National Hockey Foundation, the Club was able to install an all-weather hockey pitch. We are very grateful to the generous private lenders which combined with a loan from the bank, ensured that we had enough money to buy the land. Help us reach our target of £1.4 Million So far, we have raised £1,012,000…we have a long way to go! Help us to reach our target over the next few years so that we can fully secure the land and facilities for the use of Marlow residents now and in the future. OVER £1,012,000 RAISED – A GREAT EFFORT, LET’S KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
As we move through 2017, the fundraising barometer keeps on rising and has now reached the level of £1,020,000 against the target of £1.4m. The donations towards the Hockey Carpet, the donations towards the Mini Tennis Zone, the great Monster Fireworks evening, the ultra competitive Quiz Night, the increasing bar and catering sales and the regular monthly donations have all come together to move us forward to help us get very close to 75% of the total. It’s amazing the various sources, but the purpose is always the same:
